This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Records Management Oversight & Reporting Program, Office of the Chief Records Officer. The incumbent is responsible for supervising, managing, and planning the evaluation of records management programs in Federal agencies including inspections, assessments, and other evaluations of Federal agency programs.
Duties
As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will:
Plan and conduct inspections of Federal agency records management programs and processes, including background research, project planning, site visits, report preparation, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
Oversee reporting activities by Federal agencies about records management compliance activities. Participate in planning, development, implementation, and analysis of records management data calls to agencies.
Collaborate with other sections, teams, and organizations as a subject matter expert (SME).
Maintain state-of-the art awareness of records management developments, methods, and techniques.
Direct, plan, coordinate and/or oversee the work performed by subordinate staff; evaluate work; develop performance standards and appraises performance; approve a variety of personnel actions such as promotions, awards, etc.;
Exercise technical and administrative supervisory controls.
Make selections for key positions; give advice, counsel or instruction to staff on both work and administrative matters; identify and arrange for training needs; and find ways to improve the work products and methods.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of experience at the GS-13 level in the federal service or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes ALL of the following:
- Making recommendations on organizing an organization's community management or outreach efforts; AND
- Providing guidance on policies, procedures, regulations and/or statutes; AND
- Working on or leading a team to develop recommendations and possible alternatives that further community management and outreach.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
