You will serve as a SpaceCube Product Lead responsible for overseeing product development, fabrication, testing, and delivery. You will work with the Principal Engineer to define the product design, quality, schedule, and cost, while collaborating with engineers in various divisions at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center to ensure the success of the product line. You will also be responsible for training and developing the team to increase efficiency and reduce schedule and cost.

Duties

Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Serve as the technical lead concerned with delivering the software associated with a SpaceCube (avionics/card) type product for Earth Science Data Observing Systems. Contribute to the customization (requirements, design changes) and fabrication (hardware and software) of the smaller form factor avionics product that is radiation hard. Identify and assess potential improvements in software and hardware for the avionics/card product and define requirements to increase the capability and manufacturing. Lead planning duties such as concept development, master integration planning, and programming design for programs, taking into account feasibility and costs. Serve as a technical expert on the development planning, monitoring, and administration of projects for software and hardware of the space-based card/avionics product. Lead troubleshooting efforts on engineering problems associated with software/hardware including board layout/design, assembly, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development, core Flight System (cFS), driver development, and testing. Serve as a point of contact on systems requirements affecting major projects. Work with stakeholders to resolve problems, develop and specify requirements for the modification of existing systems, or to define requirements for the product. Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Working with a team of engineers and contributing to the development of a computer product; Organizing project work such as tracking and monitoring progress, coordinating efforts with leads, and/or evaluating outcomes to accomplish goals; Supporting the design, development, testing and/or fabrication of software and hardware to aid the delivery of a computer board-like product (e.g., SpaceCube). To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Providing technical leadership or guidance to a multidisciplinary group of engineers to develop a computer product; Performing project management functions (e.g., progress, cost, schedule, procurement, etc.) to accomplish mission objectives; Leading the design, development, testing and/or fabrication of software/hardware to aid the delivery of a computer board-like product (e.g., SpaceCube). Education

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
