Duties
Process post-trial actions.
Serve subpoenas as necessary.
Perform a variety of paralegal tasks.
Advise victims of the stages in the military criminal justice process.
Assist Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys for hearings/ court appearances.
Provide instructions on administrative functioning of the federal court system.
Coordinate investigative action for victim/witness complaint.
Arrange contact with the servicing agencies.
Summarize written testimony based on evidence.
Assist victims in making application to civilian agencies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Secret background investigation.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 5% of the time.
- May be required to serve a one year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-09 grade level which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Assisting with interpreting laws, regulations, and/or other guidance; 2) assisting with interviewing potential witnesses and/or other clients; and 3) preparing summaries of cases, interviews and related case material for the attorney's use. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree LL.M., if related to the position being filled
