Duties

Conduct legal research to make recommendations. Determine client eligibility for legal services. Conduct client interviews per attorney instructions. Review legal documents to determine facts and issues. Provide technical advice on preparing legal documents. Supply clients with immigration law assistance. Advocate on client’s behalf to resolve issues. Advise clients on procedure requirements pertaining to their individual situation. Interpret statistical data for reports. Ensure document accuracy for attorneys. Utilize office automation programs to perform assignments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Basic background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 5% of the time.
  • May be required to serve a one year probationary period.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer ServiceLegal, Government, and Jurisprudence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education

Master's or equivalent graduate degree directly related to the position being filled (must provide transcript(s).
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related(must provide transcript(s).
