Duties
Conduct legal research to make recommendations.
Determine client eligibility for legal services.
Conduct client interviews per attorney instructions.
Review legal documents to determine facts and issues.
Provide technical advice on preparing legal documents.
Supply clients with immigration law assistance.
Advocate on client’s behalf to resolve issues.
Advise clients on procedure requirements pertaining to their individual situation.
Interpret statistical data for reports.
Ensure document accuracy for attorneys.
Utilize office automation programs to perform assignments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Basic background investigation.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 5% of the time.
- May be required to serve a one year probationary period.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Interviewing and advising clients on legal matters, preparing legal documents for attorneys, Reviewing legal actions for regulatory compliance and Completing legal assignments utilizing office automation skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education

Master's or equivalent graduate degree directly related to the position being filled (must provide transcript(s).
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related(must provide transcript(s).
