You will serve as a PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATOR in the Public Safety Communication Centers (PSCC) of MCRD ERR PI SC.
Duties
You will provide appropriate pre-arrival instructions and relay any additional instructions to the responding units.
You will provide location and type of incident to determine appropriate public safety response.
You will perform crisis intervention with distraught personnel in high risk and stress situations using pre-arrival instruction for emergency medical incidents.
You must be able to demonstrate clear and effective communications by controlling the conversation utilizing provided training ensuring information received is accurately reflected in the incident report.
You will use E911 to transfer misrouted calls to the appropriate Public Safety Communications Center or Public Safety Answer Point (PSAP).
You will monitor and operate the Mass Notification System(MNS), as directed to ensure proper dissemination of emergency mass notification messages throughout the installation.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Must successfully complete Public Safety Telecommunicator training and certifications as defined in MCICOMO 3502.1 Marine Corps Emergency Dispatch Services Training and Certification program.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Incumbent will be required to work emergency overtime; This position requires rotating shift work.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- Incumbent is subject to afterhours / off duty hours recall for emergency incidents, personnel deficiencies, or incidents and situations deemed critical by the local command.
- This is a Emergency Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
- Incumbent must meet established hearing and vision tests; and must be able to distinguish colors.
- Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform (if required) or other SOP based workplace attire.
Qualifications
GS-07:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: dispatching emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel; assessing incoming calls to determine appropriate course of action; utilizing emergency communication equipment; AND researching emergency response to hazardous material.
GS-06:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting in the dispatching of emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel utilizing emergency communication equipment and assessing incoming calls to determine appropriate course of action.
