You will serve as a Emergency Services Dispatcher in the Dispatch Center of Fire and Emergency Services of MCRD ERR PI SC.

Duties

You will provide emergency police, fire and medical services by answering incoming emergency telephone calls. You will properly categorize the call, determine the appropriate public safety response, and dispatch field personnel and equipment. You will provide emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers using he local authority’s emergency medical dispatch system. You will monitor status and availability of fire and medical field units to assure an appropriate response is made without the compromise of the quality of services to the public. You will refer non-emergency callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies. You will maintain reports and retrieve needed statistical information using the fire incident reporting system(s) as directed by local authority.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Incumbent must meet all standards found in the Headquarters Marine directed Consolidated Emergency Response System (CERS) training strategy for an Entry Level Public Safety dispatcher I/II within one year of employment start date.
  • Incumbent must have 20/20 correctable vision in each eye.
  • Incumbent must successfully pass an Audiology Evaluation.

Qualifications

GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) dispatching emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel; 2) assessing incoming calls to determine appropriate course of action; 3) utilizing emergency communication equipment; AND 4) researching emergency response to hazardous material. GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) assisting in the dispatching of emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel utilizing emergency communication equipment; and 2) assessing incoming calls to determine appropriate course of action.
