This position is located in the Office of the General Counsel, Division of Enforcement Litigation, Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch. The incumbent of this position serves as Deputy to the Branch Chief Deputy Associate General Counsel in charge of the Branch and assists in the general administration of the Branch.
Duties
As an Supervisory General Attorney (Labor), GS-0905-15, your typical work assignments may include:
Planning and assigning cases to branch attorneys.
Overseeing case intake and the hiring and appraisal of branch employees.
Preparing and reviewing briefs, petitions, and other legal documents and memoranda.
Resolving legal questions and determining the necessity of filing pleadings.
Conferring with parties involved in cases and their representatives.
Planning, directing, and conducting litigation in the Courts of Appeals involving proceedings for the enforcement or review of Agency orders.

- This position is not part of the Bargaining Unit.
- Active Bar license is required for verification. Bar license must reference Bar number and indicate the status of good standing. A Self-Certification Form is not acceptable verification.
- This is a positive education position. Current NLRB attorneys are not required to submit a copy of their transcripts. However, if attorneys are within 3 years from receiving their JD, a transcript must be provided with their application package.
- A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- May be subject to a background investigation prior to appointment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
The ideal candidate for the Supervisory General Attorney (Labor)/ (Assistant General Counsel, Deputy Branch Chief) has a wide-ranging and thorough knowledge of the National Labor Relations Act, and Board and General Counsel practices and procedures; possesses strong research and analytical skills; has experience drafting complex legal documents; and has demonstrated an ability to provide expert legal analysis and advice. The candidate will be an excellent writer and communicator, have excellent organizational abilities, and be skilled at assessing the strengths and weaknesses of both cases and personnel.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Education
Must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL. B. or J.D.).
Bar Membership/Certification
Applicants must be an active member of the Bar in good standing of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any Territorial court under the U.S. Constitution. Your active Bar license must reference Bar number and indicate the status of good standing. Agency Internal Self-Certification Forms are not acceptable for verification.
In addition to the BASIC REQUIREMENTS, applicants must also meet the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be qualified for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Supervisory General Attorney at the GS-15 grade level.
Specialized experience includes:
Experience working with labor, employment, or administrative laws, or similar federal statutory regulations; and
Experience interpreting and applying the National Labor Relations Act to difficult and novel factual and legal issues in unfair labor practice and representation cases; and
Experience providing authoritative guidance, interpretation, and recommendations on both administrative matters and legal issues based on relevant labor laws and regulations.
