Duties

Serves as Installation Unit Movement Coordinator (UMC) Conduct deployment coordination planning meeting with deploying units and publish deployment. Ensure units are provided deployment transportation support to assist in meeting port call order requirement and arrival window. Request commercial truck transportation based upon validated shipping documentation provided by the unit. Submit request for additional funding as required. Prepare Transportation Control Movement Documents (TCMD) on shipments of freight moving to overseas destinations through aerial and water ports of embarkation. Inspect to ensure HAZMAT items are annotated in the hazardous material section of the commercial bill of lading or government bill of lading Advise installation activities and off-post supported units on the proper procedures for preparing shipments and related transportation matters Prepare reports and compiles statistics.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Security Clearance.
  • Tempoary duty travel of 10% may be required.

Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes1) Overseeing transportation services which coordinate commercial movement of property and/or personnel; 2) Monitoring contractor performance for compliance to contractual terms; AND 3) Recommending course of action on the technical processes that impact transportation operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Not: You must submit a copy of your transcripts). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial ManagementProgram ManagementReading ComprehensionTransportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
