About the Position: Works closely with the Geospatial Branch Chief in regard to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems and Technical Design Software for computer systems. Applying a wide range of technical and engineering knowledge, analytical, and diagnostic techniques, for developing new or modified work methods to a variety of planning and engineering studies and designs that require the use of CAD/BIM and other Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, etc.

Duties

Demonstrates a general knowledge of planning and engineering designs and an in-depth knowledge of related computer application technology as it relates to the production of engineering reports, plans and specifications, and drawings. Provides comprehensive management advisory and technical services for the use of CAD (Computer Aided Design (CAD) / BIM (Building Information Modeling) / CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools. Responsible for establishment and management of user requested complex databases for engineering products for engineering design work. System evaluation requires the use of alternative approaches and the resolution of untested products. Work requires coordination within and sometimes outside the organization and contact with varied professionals. CAD (Computer Aided Design (CAD) / BIM (Building Information Modeling) / CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) applications require certification and continuous training to stay current with rapid changes in technology. Documents problems related to system software. Evaluation of segments of the system in terms of current condition and planning for the future of the whole system.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
