Duties
Serves as a senior hotline investigator in the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Hotline Program, Investigations Division (ID) of the DLA Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
Investigates violations of non-compliance with policy, guidance, administrative rules, and regulations pertaining to DLA’s administration of federal and agency programs, some incidents may include criminal violations.
Utilizes interview and interrogation techniques to assess suspects, subjects, complainants, witnesses, and sources of all grades and rank to elicit relevant information and determine facts related to allegations.
Determines causative factors, draws conclusions, and recommends corrective actions to assist management to safeguard DLA property, personnel, and facilities.
Represents the organization at ad hoc investigations, monitors the activity, and provides technical advice on investigative matters.
Prepares clear, logical, impartial, and properly documented investigative reports.
Establishes and maintains an effective liaison with internal and external representatives to ensure complete flow of information concerning suspected/alleged incidents adversely affecting DLA and/or other federal agencies

Qualifications
To qualify for an Investigator your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Conducting research and evaluations on serious, sensitive, or complex criminal and/or non-criminal investigations.
Using interview and investigative techniques, theories, and concepts to thoroughly assess complaints and personnel as well as determine facts related to allegations.
Analyzing factual and legal issues (policies, regulations, records, precedent cases, etc.) to determine relevancy and application to current cases.
Preparing investigative reports (clear, logical, impartial) to recommend corrective actions to management.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
