The primary purpose of this position SECURITY ASSISTANT NK-0086-02, is to perform technical reviews, process security installation access requests, controlled and restricted area media access requests, requests for a multitude of various controlled and accountable media permitting access to national security areas, granting permission to conduct criminal investigations.
Duties
Manage and maintain the Pass and Identification and/or Visitor Control Operation.
Establish and maintain accountability files.
Prepare forms, memorandums, and visitor access lists, special event passes, and supplements to implement DoD and AF, and other federal directives in support of the installation access program.
Complete training and other requirements necessary to attain and maintain access to the Utah Criminal Justice Information System(UCJIS), the Air Force Justice Information Management System (AFJIS), the Defense Biometric Identification System, and other systems as mission requirements dictate.

- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - The work is primarily sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items such as paper or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT - The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as: working experience with ensuring security credential requests are processed accurately and expeditiously; helping with performing quality reviews on the data and information submitted for consistency, completeness, and accuracy within regulatory requirements; experience with determining appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up; helping to process and protect sensitive information ensuring total confidentiality. EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed 4-years above high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education has been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the total requirements of the position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions.
2. Knowledge of installation access policies and investigation processes.
3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office
and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports.
4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and
diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
