You will serve as a RIGGER in the Rigger (72A), Crane and Rigging Operations Division (Code 220), Waterfront Support Department (Code 200) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
Duties
You will be responsible for the planning, laying out, assembling, repairing, testing, and installing complex weight handling gear and various standing and running rigging to move and/or remove.
You will plan rigging jobs for movement of shipboard components, equipment, or material through confined submarine, shop, and other areas.
You will estimate weight and center of gravity of item to be moved.
You will provide direction to crane operators to provide for the safe and effective movement of items to and from submarines, shops and other areas.
You will operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, JLG man-lift high reach equipment, trucks, etc.
You will manufacture, fabricate and repair standing and running rigging required to support movement of items with cranes or weight handling equipment.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- IT-II Level Designation is required.
- This position requires deployment to Diego Garcia and a DGAR medical screening.
- Incumbent will work aboard submarines and in surrounding areas may lead to exposure to fumes, electrical shock, flying objects, excessive noise, and other adverse environmental conditions.
- Incumbent will work aboard submarines and in surrounding areas may require periods of standing, vertical climbing, stooping, and moving in and out of areas of close confinement.
- Light to heavy physical exertion will be required in lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds assisted.
- Incumbent may be required to work at various heights from ladders, scaffolding, buckets, etc. as well as in confined spaces such as trunks or tanks.
- Incumbent is required to wear personal protective devices, clothing, and/or equipment including hard hats, harnesses, life jackets, safety glasses, respirators, safety shoes, etc. while exposed to adverse environmental/hazardous work assignments.

Experience performing the most difficult and complex tasks including estimating weight and center of gravity of an item to be moved; working in crane teams to provide safe operation; providing direction to crane operators for safe and effective movement; installing beam clamps, gin poles, and other supporting structures; fabricating and repairing rigging apparatus such as slicing wire rope, making poured metallic splices, and installing thimbles; inspecting and testing ordnance handling equipment and general purpose rigging equipment.
Experience performing the full range of tasks including providing direction to crane operators for safe and effective movement; assisting the crane team during lifting and handling operations; inspecting rigging gear to include wire rope, chain falls, shackles, turnbuckles and other rigging gear.
