You will serve as a RIGGER LEADER in the Crane Team Shop (02A), Crane and Rigging Operations Division (Code 220), Waterfront Support Department (Code 200) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
Duties
You will accomplish work in accordance with instructions provided by higher graded employees.
You will move objects through confined areas where cranes or other mobile material handling equipment cannot be used.
You will follow oral and written instructions to determine best methods to complete assigned projects.
You will clean and maintain work areas in compliance with shop housekeeping rules.
You will keep journey level workers supplied with tools and work materials as instructed.
You will comply with posted safety regulations for the handling of materials and parts.
You will assemble, repair, select, and install weight handling gear and standing and running rigging to load and move test equipment.
You will install and repair rigging (e.g., mast, antenna, small boat handling gear, barrier, arresting gear, windlass, winch) on ships.
You will devise methods of moving and controlling the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or in confined spaces.
You will estimate the size and weight of large industrial objects to determine work safety and handling.
You will inspect or evaluate work, materials, equipment, written procedures, or references for rigging jobs.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT II Level Designation certification.
- You may be required to qualify as Limited Radiation Worker and Radiation Workers.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Planning, laying out, and installing complex weight handling gear; moving items of various sizes and weight through confined submarine, shop, and other areas; and manufacturing standing and running rigging required to support movement of items with cranes or weight handling equipment.
Repairing rigging apparatus such as splicing wire rope, making poured metallic splices, etc. and inspecting crane rigging, chain hoist, and associated rigging hardware.
Testing ordnance-handling equipment.
