The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides leadership on food and agriculture issues based on public policy, the best available science and effective management. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) links U.S. agriculture to the world, improves foreign market access for U.S. food and agricultural products, builds new markets, improves the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provides food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.

Duties

Plans and directs the conduct of special economic data analyses and interpretations which cut across established organizational and functional lines of business. Serves as coordinator and liaison between FAS/ GMA and the other USDA economic analysis agencies on day to day or ongoing analysis issues. Analyzes the impact of existing and/or proposed legislation and policies on the activities of GMA. Coordinates and implements briefings, meetings and analytical efforts requiring cross-division input. Assists in efforts to coordinate among GMA Divisions review of proposals and drafting of economic analysis briefing papers and presentations.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you also need to meet the following: TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: ensure that policy makers are provided with accurate, meaningful, and properly evaluated and understood economic information; contribute technical information regarding the state of the economy, informed interpretation of observed economic phenomena, and evaluations and forecasts of economic movements; serve as authoritative technical advisor, within the area of assignment, in the highest councils of Government; train and/or provide technical guidance to lower grade personnel assigned to assist in the accomplishment of the work and subject matter expert experience related to global markets for assigned commodities and on agricultural trade in assigned geographical regions. .
