The Division of Market Oversight (DMO) supports the CFTC's mission to promote the integrity, resilience, and vibrancy of the U.S. derivatives markets through sound regulation. The Division regulates derivative contract markets in the trading of futures, options and swaps and swap execution facilities in the trading of swaps, as well swap data repositories and certain foreign board of trade filings. 

Duties

This position serves as an Associate Director in the Product and Market Analytics Branch (PMAB) in the DMO. The Associate Director is responsible for leading the Financial Product Section or Agricultural, Energy, Power, and Metals Products Section. The two sections provide analysis of new and amended product and product rule filings in all categories of derivatives contracts across all classes of commodities, to verify that derivatives contracts listed for trading comply with the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA or Act) and the Commission’s regulations.  Serves as an advisor to PMAB’s Deputy Director and DMO leadership concerning the review of products and product rules for compliance with the CEA and Commission regulations.  Major duties also include, but are not limited to:

Qualifications

To Qualify for the CT-15:  Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level at the CT-14 grade level in the Federal service.  Qualifying experience may include:  Experience performing, leading and/or managing the analysis of new and amended product and product rule filings to verify that derivatives contracts listed for trading comply with the CEA and the Commission’s regulations, including analysis related to a product’s susceptibility to manipulation;  Experience that demonstrates technical knowledge of analytical econometric data techniques and experience in conducting analyses of derivatives and cash market data, swaps market and swaps transaction data and other information; and Having working knowledge and understanding of cash markets, including with respect to traditional physical commodities or newer virtual asset classes.

Education

Education Requirements: To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
