About the Position: Provides administrative support services to Soldiers processing through the Army Disability System. Assists members from the time of receipt of notification of pending Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) through the various stages of processing until completion of the Clinical Evaluation Process and forwarding to the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO).

Duties

Coordinates with the physician and physician assistant to ensure all abnormal conditions are assessed by consultation with the specialty clinic. Provides assistance in person and through telephonic contact. Soldiers are provided written and verbal instructions pertaining to each step of the board process. Develops and maintains various routine and special management indicator graphs and charts. Reviews computer listings for no-shows/canceled appointments and enters information into database. Monitors problems with clinical pathways with specific aero medical evacuation patients to work out problems in advance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires the completion of the 6I-F4/340-F3 training and certification course within 180 days of appointment and annually thereafter.
  • Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling medical and non-medical appointments; collaborating with health care providers; and performing a variety of standard and non-standard clerical duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Health administration, Public Health Administration, Health information management; Health and Human Services, or Medical Assisting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing service member and non- service member medical administrative information and/or documentation; utilizing various software programs to prepare various types of reports, flowcharts, slides, charts, graphs and/or other historical data; and scheduling and/or reviewing patient appointments based on established schedules. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Health administration, Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Health administration, Public Health Administration, Health information management, Health and Human Services, or Medical Assisting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
