About the Position: Serves as a Consult and Referral Management Center (CRMC) Representative. Assists Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries, internal healthcare providers and staff, regional and Army Medical Department (AMEDD) medical treatment facilities (MTFs), Veteran's Administration (VA) sharing and local network civilian healthcare providers with consult/referral, health service coordination, or consult/billing issues for TRICARE healthcare services.
Duties
Conduct personal interviews to establish eligibility and identify the source of an issue related to consults/referrals.
Apply office guidelines concerning release of patient information.
Instruct clinical and clerical staff in all aspects of the appointing processes and consult/referral management.
Maintain multiple specialty booking queues according to established guidelines, ensuring access to care standards are met and provides weekly queue status to specialty clinics.
Receive, investigate, process, and provide feedback/resolution for telephonic or walk-in inquiries concerning medical care.
Utilize the hospital's automated system (Composite Health Care System) to confirm eligibility for care.
Perform numerous repetitive duties associated with appointment booking and consult tracking functions.
Transfer incoming and outgoing calls to appropriate staff.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A fully Qualified Typist is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling and coordinating appointments for patients, receiving inquiries concerning medical care, or utilizing automated systems for a hospital or medical treatment facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
