The Defense Innovation Unit is a Department of Defense organization focused on rapid prototyping, fielding, and scaling of commercial solutions that can save lives, lead to new operational concepts, increase efficiency, and deter future conflict. This position supports the Deputy Director for Policy, Strategy & National Security Partnerships and reports to the Director of the Replicator Initiative and interfaces with other acquisitions and technology leaders within the DIU and DoD Components.
Duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
Serve as the Project Manager for Strategic Initiatives at the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and support a range of DIU's highest priority technology initiatives requiring Department-wide collaboration and teamwork, including the Replicator Initiative.
Manage day-to-day execution of the Replicator and future strategic initiatives, overseeing activities aimed at successful technology integration with Military Departments and Combatant Commands, including requirements identification, resource planning, technology development, procurement, and downstream adoption activities such as operations planning and training.
Support senior Department forums driving strategy on technology and innovation by preparing materials for review by the Deputy Secretary of Defense, briefing to three- and four-star leaders, and leading coordination among staff.
Lead and support cross-functional working sessions across Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense to drive accelerated results and better processes across the Department.
Work with various staff to ensure best-of-breed commercial technology is being considered in Department acquisition and budgeting decisions.
Manage strategic engagements and communications with Congress, the commercial sector, and the media.

- This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the NH-04 (GS-14/15) level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a NH-03 (GS-13) or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the NH-04 (GS-14/15), you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the NH-03 (GS-13) grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to NH-03 (GS-13) if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience with the acquisition process for uncrewed systems, overseeing projects or programs regarding uncrewed systems, and executing strategic initiatives.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the NH-04 grade level.
