This position serves as a Supervisory Electronics Technician with primary leadership and maintenance responsibilities for land mobile radio systems within their geographic area.

Duties
Provides radio subject matter expertise to the geographical area of supervision.
Provides emergency radio communications support and intra- and interagency radio collaboration.
Performs tower climbing in order to perform Land Mobile Radio system installation and corrective/preventive maintenance.
Supervises and performs testing, acceptance, and user training for Land Mobile Radio system components.
Oversees inventory control of radio systems and emergency action plans for all radio sites.
Promotes and supports a positive work environment to create a climate of mutual respect and integrity.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

- Must successfully complete the agency tower certification program no more than six months after being hired and will be required to re-certify periodically as required.

- Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period (unless prior service is creditable). New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Providing technical leadership in the development, enhancement, and integration of land mobile radio (LMR) systems; and/or installing, maintaining, repairing, and performing corrective/preventive maintenance on LMR systems, components, and links; and/or supervising and performing implementation, corrective/preventive maintenance; and/or communicating guidelines and performance.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
