You will serve as a Material Inspector in the PRESINSURV NORVA.
Duties
You will perform inspections and observes testing, and operation, of systems and components to determine existing conditions and compliance.
You will organize and present thoughts, considerations, and results in a clear and concise manner in both formal and informal situations.
You will document deficiencies and/or discrepancies and makes root cause assessments based on observation and investigation.
You will utilize detailed technical guidance, approved procedures and standards in the conduction of inspections, during all material inspections, trials or surveys.
You will report completion of checks and all identified deficiencies to the Deck Lead or writer for consolidation and provide additional supporting information as necessary.
You will complete INSURV inspector qualification and develop, maintain, and increase proficiency in assigned inspection areas.
You will prepare reports, messages, and letters using administration (Microsoft Office) and inspection software.
You will participate in and/or conduct inspection- related meetings and training as required. Utilize the Defense Travel System (DTS) to make travel arrangements to/from inspection sites and to submit travel claims after completion.
You will prepare for inspection by reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing ship specifications,
technical documentation, maintenance policies and procedures, and other applicable technical information.

- This position require travel of 50% or more.
- Duties require travel to ships, inspection sites, conferences, CNO briefs, and other meetings in excess of 14 days but normally less than 21 days.
- Incumbent may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as prescribed by mission requirements, or Force Health Protection requirements as determined by higher authority
- This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain current cardiopulmonary
resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training which is offered during working hours.
- This position requires the incumbent to perform temporary duty travel which may be on short notice and/or for extended periods of time.
- The work will require temporary duty aboard submarine and surface vessels, and travel by
commercial or military air carrier. In very infrequent cases, the work will require temporary duty on land to inspect Ballistic Missile Defense Sites.
- Members are responsible for transportation to in an expeditious manner between job sites of his/her permanent duty station with reimbursement of costs in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with Air Warfare (AW) inspectors assigned to the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) employing a required specialized knowledge of the AN/SPY-1 Radar System and its Variants.
Experience, knowledge, and technical prowess to assess the AN/SPY-1 Radar System and its Variants to a level that allows the identification and explanation of discrepancies and their impact on system performance.
Experience and proficiency with SPY-1 Radar and auxiliary equipment to include the Signal Processor, Antenna, Transmitter, Operational Readiness Test System, Dry Air System, and Electronic Cooling Water System.
Experience and knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation processes and principles related to radar systems.
Experience interpreting Technical and Performance Specifications to evaluate radar system performance.
Experience identifying and documenting faults incurred during the operational inspection of the Radar system.
Experience evaluating operations, as well as determining the impact of maintenance and modifications on system performance and report any negative findings.
Experience recognizing and documenting overall Aegis Weapon System faults caused by performance of the SPY-1 system.
Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing, communicating complex concepts to personnel of varying levels of Radar experience.
