About the Position: This position is located in the Department of surgery Otorhinolaryngology Svc and Department of Surgery Ophthalmology Service at Tripler Army Medical Center.

Duties
Perform the full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting.
Complete request forms for individual patient orders, blood work, and other requests.
Coordinate and/or schedules patient appointments with other clinics or specialties.
Refer urgent messages and patient results for immediate actions.
Provide information regarding the practice, clinic, and hospital policies, procedures, and locations to patients, family members, staff, etc.
Maintain all patient records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation; ensuring each entry contains correct patient and health care provider identification.
Ensure the patient completes all necessary forms prior to being seen by the provider.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, or miscellaneous clerical duties within the clinic setting; 2) Completing request forms for individual patient orders, blood work, or other requests; 3) Obtaining identifying information and determine the nature of the visit/call; 4) Monitoring or communicating delays in scheduled appointments to the appropriate staff and patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
