The position is located in the Community Health Nursing Program and performs receptionist, records maintenance, a variety of clerical duties associated with determining patient eligibility for billing services. Updating the CHN Case Management System, collecting/sorting/sending mail, filing, basic patient assessment, and other duties as assigned as related to this position.
Duties
Interview patient to obtain pertinent patient registration information, demographics and insurance information to enable facility to bill for healthcare services. Assists patient in completing new or updated forms for automated systems.
Receives telephone calls and visitors concerned with a variety of matters including the availability of, and procedures for obtaining medical assistance, and making or changing scheduled appointments.
Maintains a variety of registers, records, and reports in order to provide statistics and information for patient care program planning and other purposes.
Coordinates and assists with scheduling appointments for department.
Prepares and maintains monthly car mileage reports and sends forms or reports to the FYSU Property and Supply or Maintenance Department.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Interviewing patients to obtain pertinent patient registration information; assisting patients in completing new or update forms, working closely with facility staff to identify all alternate resources available; determining patient eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, state programs and any applicable resources, providing information on rights and benefits of alternate resources.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
