This position is located in the Physical Therapy Department, Fort Yuma Service Unit, Wintehaven, CA., and performs as a receptionist, records maintenance, a variety of clerical duties associated with ambulatory care. This position reports to the Physical Therapy Supervisor.
Duties
Screens telephone calls and reviews pertinent patient registration information.
Reviewed electronic system for benefit eligibility.
Provides information on behavioral health services and assists with scheduling appointments.
Maintains a variety of sensitive information, registers, records, and report sin order to provide statistics.
Prepares training forms and makes necessary arrangement connection with travel performed by staff.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Schedule and coordinate patient appointments using computerized records, maintain patient confidentiality, prepare for clinic visits for each business day, explain policy/procedures to patients, prepare correspondence, answer telephones, refer calls to appropriate receiver OR;
Education: 4 years of education the high school level OR;
Specialized experience and education: A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for the GS-05 grade level.
GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Scheduling appointments, capturing patient demographics, insurance capture, pre-registration, and clinic cancellation processes, schedule various patient appointments in multiple systems, perform a variety of reception, clerical and record-keeping duties and procedures in the patient appointment services, schedule initial and follow-up appointments and missed appointments. Receive and greet visitors and telephone callers at the call center, determines the nature of the call or visit and provides detailed information to individuals, obtain information necessary to determine primary need or area of interest, refers patients with perceived emergencies to proper clinic.
Typing Proficiency: Must meet typing proficiency by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates or by self-certifying proficiency. Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
