This position is located in the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of the Secretary of Transportation (OST), Office of Security, Physical and Technical Security Division. The Office of Security and other federal directives and guidance;  develop local security policy and associated implementing instructions; provide authoritative security interpretations and guidance to management officials and security specialists; and resolve issues involving security requirements & enforcement.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications. To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include: Experience interpreting, developing, and implementing security policy based on a risk approach and proposing solutions that monitor, evaluate and enable resolution to safeguard the workforce, reduce property loss, and support mission continuity.  Experience planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating security programs effectiveness, and recommending plan improvements to improve responses to emergencies. Experience serving as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Security - Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, and information, including the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information and proper reporting of security incidents. Planning and Evaluating - Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes. Technical Competence - Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
