This position is located in the Office of Management Services, Office of Security. The primary purpose of this position is to provide security administration work and personnel security system training in supporting agency wide security management policies and plans.
Duties
As a Security Specialist, you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
Schedules personnel security vetting activities in accordance with all appropriate laws,
regulations, and policies with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency. The incumbent maintains written and telephonic contact with representatives of other Federal government agencies to ensure timely follow-up actions are taken and the cases are closed within the time frames established.
Receives, reviews, schedules, and initiates follow-up action on requests for
personal security vetting and security clearance requests received from the various personnel and administrative offices within USAGM and its grantee organizations. Incumbent must conduct a thorough review of each request and the related forms to ensure accuracy and completeness of required data and take appropriate action to rectify deficiencies with the requesting element.
Acts as a liaison working in coordination with the Office of Security and the Washington National Records Center (WNRC), maintains correspondence suspense files, records, files for reports, operating procedures, and internal memorandums.
Creates and updates a personnel security file on all personnel. Maintains a comprehensive personnel security database entry on all employees, contractors, interns, Grantees, etc., ensuring accuracy of information inputted in the system. Properly handles and processes information received by the Personnel Security Division.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-07 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Required experience for this position is:
-Coordinate background investigations assuring appropriate initiation.
-Provide technical advice and guidance to employees, contractors, affiliates, and volunteers -regarding the background investigation process.
-Review background forms for accuracy and completeness before the case is released for investigation.
OR: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D. OR Superior Academic Achievement, if related.
OR: Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
