Duties

You will serve as a working leader over at least three trades and crafts employees engaged in installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment. You will work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of various piping systems and equipment. You will perform own work as a journey level pipefitter install, modify, and repair new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment. You will join, seal, and test systems and equipment for proper pressures, leak-free joints and operations. You will plan and lay out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. 1) Installing, modifying, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing industrial or domestic high-temperature water and high-pressure piping systems and equipment; 2) Planning and laying out installation, modifying, and repairing various new and existing piping systems from blueprints, sketches, etc.; 3) Working with processing lines that may contain hazardous materials; 4) Aligning pipes, valves, fittings, and joints for accurate match, and installing proper braces and supports to control movement and vibration for expansion and contraction; and 4) Following all safety requirements, practices, and procedures when working in a hazardous or industrial environment as well as on all work assignments.
