About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with the 93rd SIG BD located at West Point, New York.
Duties
Configures and optimizes routers and switches to support the full range of network related services.
Troubleshoots and resolves all information technology problems and determines whether cable, equipment, or operations is the problem.
Implements modifications, upgrades, and services for the installation network systems.
Provides virtual support to users and/or Local Network Enterprise Centers (LNEC) within the Northeast RNEC Area of Responsibility.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Employee must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Employee must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.
- Position may require individual to be on call and may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours.
- The incumbent may be required to work overtime and work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays at Management’s discretion due to mission needs.
- Position is subject to a call back requirement to report within 2 hours of notification.
- Incumbent is required to obtain certification/recertification as outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M. Personnel must obtain certification within six months. Failure to obtain and/or maintain certification are grounds for termination.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe the following quality experience:
Analyzing information systems and equipment for functionality and effectiveness. Programing network devices in accordance with policies and procedures. Troubleshooting issues with installation of network components. Juniper knowledge and experience.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business management, public administration, or communications.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
