Duties
Duty 1: Manages LAN/WAN systems, designs and monitors new complex network systems, configures and installs
network hardware/software, and maintains LAN Operations.
Duty 2: As a senior IT specialist, performs feasibility studies on complex information systems and conducts in-depth analyses complicated by novel problems.
Duty 3: Keeps abreast of emerging technology to predict future network needs. Keeps abreast of emerging technology to predict future network needs.
Duty 4: As a senior IT specialist, participates in management discussions, meetings, committees, or special projects.
Requirements

- All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information.

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.

- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- Certification: IAW AFMAN 17-1303, para 2.19.1, this position requires the successful candidate to have or be able to obtain an IAT Level II certification within 6 months of position start date.

- In event of an unscheduled system outage, other than normal duty hours or extended hours may be required to restore critical information systems.
- Possession of an IAT Level II certification is required and knowledge of both Cisco and Juniper devices are highly desirable.
Qualifications
This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Specialized Experience:
Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of organizational policies, mission, resources, operations, capabilities, and requirements; knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer a computer systems program; knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design, principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements; and knowledge of security and safety procedures and ability to apply existing guidance. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements.
2. Knowledge of the network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols typically found at base level.
3. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems.
4. Knowledge of complex configuration management techniques, and requirements appropriate to managing base level network systems.
5. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems; and to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and
computer applications from an operational perspective.
6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meetfuture requirements.
