This position is located in the Medical Services Division at the Supai Health Clinic, Supai, AZ / Peach Spring Health Center, Peach Springs, AZ. The purpose of this position is to provide independent diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic nursing and medical services for patients of varying complexity and advanced nature. This position reports to the Supervisory Physician.

Duties

Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Provides independent comprehensive prenatal, perinatal and postnatal patient care management for patients of varying complexity. Communicates and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure care meets patient needs and allows for smooth transition of care. Exercises responsibility and accountability for health promotion and patient education. Prescribes medications; initiates emergency care, as appropriate. Ordering appropriate laboratory, radiologic an other tests and procedures necessary for patient assessment and diagnosis; Communicates and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that patient management strategies are successful in meeting patient care and/or research needs. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 40 hours per week. Incumbent may be required to work during evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, including on call or standby. Incumbent will be on hybrid role that combines telework and onsite responsibilities. This position provides the flexibility of routine telework for patient consultations while requiring onsite presence for direct patient care. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): All applicants must meet all the basic requirements: Education: A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited professional nursing educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. (amended 9-13-2019 to include this paragraph) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing. GS-13: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. Examples include: Independent management of a complex panel of patients providing comprehensive primary maternal and child healthcare and women's healthcare services, inclusive of preventive, chronic disease management, and acute care diagnoses, with expertise in common outpatient procedures, consultative services, and clinical outcome measures. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
