This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as the principal joint capabilities and concepts planner and analyst in the Warfighting Analysis Division (WAD).
Duties
As a Concepts and Capabilities Analyst at the GS-0301-14/15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Developing and/or identifying new joint military approaches and/or warfighting concepts and integrating them into DoD analytics, planning and programming.
Planning and leading the analyses of emerging concepts employing current and future capabilities of the armed forces of the United States and its allies across a full range of military operations.
Evaluating the merit of future force designs and/or current and future warfighting capabilities against those of potential adversaries.
Developing future force design options and supporting planning and programming recommendations
Producing concepts and recommendations that meet USC Title 10 tasking for Joint Capability Development to include identifying new joint military capabilities, performing military net assessments and advising on joint military capabilities that meet national defense strategies.

- Incumbent may be required periodic travel is required, including overnight and out-of-area (to include international travel).
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Identifying and reviewing new joint military approaches and/or warfighting concepts and integrating them into DoD analytics, planning and programming.
Leading and/or executing analyses of emerging concepts employing current and future capabilities of the armed forces of the United States and its allies.
Evaluating the merit of future force designs and/or current and future warfighting capabilities against those of potential adversaries.
Evaluating future force design recommendations, planning and programming.
Assisting in concepts and recommendations that meet USC Title 10 tasking for Joint Capability Development
OR
You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
B. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:
Developing new joint military approaches and/or warfighting concepts and integrating them into DoD analytics, planning and programming.
Planning and leading the analyses of emerging concepts employing current and future capabilities of the armed forces of the United States and its allies.
Evaluating the merit of future force designs and/or current and future warfighting capabilities against those of potential adversaries.
Developing future force design options and supporting planning and programming recommendations.
Producing concepts and recommendations that meet USC Title 10 tasking for Joint Capability Development.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
