About the Position: You will serve as Chief, Airfield Division, United States Army Aviation Brigade (TAAB). The Chief, Airfield Division, is the primary staff advisor to the Commander TAAB and Chief of Staff for airfield matters. This position is located at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Duties

Define operational strategies, direction, and makes decisions on allocating resources to address Department of the Army (DA) and TAAB mission/vision short- and long-term goals. Develop and establish procedures for keeping the airfield in a continuous ready status to support aircraft that require use of the airfield to accomplish their mission. Advise Commander, TAAB, on budgetary requirements to sustain, restore and modernize the airfield and helipad infrastructure. Plan work assignments, prepare plans to meet substantial changes in workload, and justifies revisions in staffing levels, work priorities and deadlines. Prepare formal requests for personnel action to fill vacancies; detail, reassign, or promote employees and makes selections of employees from lists of eligible personnel. Perform analysis of DoD and Army regulations, rules, and policies in order to translate laws into team goals and services and provide timely and comprehensive responses that support the mission. Represent the TAAB/MDW Commander with other agencies to coordinate airspace/air traffic control measures to ensure Command interests are represented at conferences/meetings. Provide technical and administrative oversight of a variety of programs, including airfield management operations, manpower, budget, training, quality assurance, air traffic and airspace, airfield infrastructure, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position is Non-Critical Sensitive (T3), requires an employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing; must sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and/or on-call duty hours.
  • Required to participate in contingency readiness exercises, major accident response exercises, and investigations.
  • Pre-employment physical and annual physicals while in position.
  • This position is designated Key (2) and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the agency to function effectively.
  • Because of the essential nature of this position, shall require that it not be filled by members of the National Guard, Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations.
  • This position has been designated as a mission essential position.
  • This means that should there be a general dismissal authorization due to adverse weather conditions or other emergency situation (specified by the organizational criteria) you will remain on the job.
