This position is located in the Reserve Fleets, Office of Ship Operations, Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for Federal Sealift, Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift, Maritime Administration (MARAD).

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position are based on the  training, experience, or other requirements that determine which applicants would be able to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. To qualify for the WS-12, your experience should include experience equal or equivalent to the following: The ability to move ships, fleet craft, and manpower required, including coverage for emergency conditions is required. The ability to inspect and assess mooring arrangements for ships berthed at the Reserve Fleets, directing subordinates in corrective action, and coordinating its management. The ability to interpret and apply navigation rules and navigation aids in charting the movement of ships and fleet craft. Ability to operate safely KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Extensive knowledge in the movement of ships, the fleet craft, and manpower required, including, coverage for emergency conditions is required. Knowledge of maintenance required for fleet support craft consisting of tugboats, self-propelled crane barge, diesel powered patrol boats, and personnel launches. Ability to inspect and assess mooring arrangements for ships berthed at the Reserve Fleets, directing subordinates in corrective action and coordinating it management. Ability to interpret and apply navigation rules and navigation aids in charting the movement of ships and fleet craft. Ability to develop and supervise ship movement plans for the Fleet Operations and Maintenance Officer's approval including verification of ship's draft, water depths, tide, wind, and current conditions.     Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
