This position will be filled in the 3341 IT Specialist (Applications) series.
Duties
As the IT Specialist (Applications) in this position, you will:
Responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining business applications. Responsibilities include:
Analyze and assess user requirements, design systems, and make recommendations. Develop effective system diagrams and written documentation.
Design, code, and test applications.
Follow recommended and industry procedures to deploy completed applications into production.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Application development concepts including Software development Life Cycle (SDLC), reusable code, and testable coding.
Support, maintain, and enhance existing applications on IBM i/Power Systems (AS/400), Windows .Net, MS Access, other Windows applications and processes.
Maintain, convert and/or integrate existing applications between software platforms and technologies.
Work as a team member. Collaborate and contribute customer service-oriented approach to business.
Communicate effectively.
NOTE: This position falls under pay bands MA 14-22. Selectee's pay will be set between the MA 16-18 pay bands based on years of education and/or experience.

- The selectee's pay will be set between pay bands MA 16-18
- Relocation expense is not paid, applicants are responsible for any relocation expenses.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.
General Experience Requirement: Applicants must have three (3) years of years general experience in administrative or technical work, such as:
Work which required a general understanding of administrative functions or management practices and processes, or
An ability to work or deal effectively with individuals or groups of persons, or
Skill in analyzing problems, identifying relevant factors, gathering pertinent information, and recognizing solutions.
OR
Education - Applicant must have successfully completed studies in an accredited college or university above the high school level may be substituted for general experience at the rate of 1 year of education (i.e., 30 semester or 45 quarter hours) for 1 year of experience up to a maximum of 3 years of education for 3 years of experience. Must provide transcripts.
AND
Specialized Experience Qualification Requirements: In addition to the above-stated general experience requirement, to qualify at the MA-16 payband and above, applicants must have two (2) years specialized experience as follows:
Manage and administer IBM Power Systems environment, including system configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting;
Perform routine system monitoring and maintenance tasks, including backup and recovery procedures;
Evaluate and implement software upgrades and patches as necessary for various systems;
Experience in IBM Power Systems RPG, RPGLE, RPG Free, COBOL, CL, and SQL programming languages;
Experience in Windows programming application development with one or more of the following: VB.Net, C#.Net, ASP.Net, MS Access, SQL programming;
Experience with reporting and business intelligence; writing and maintaining reports with one or more of the following: Crystal Reports, Microsoft SSRS, Windows Power BI or comparable reporting tool;
Experience with the following: Microsoft Visual Studio 2012+, SQL Server Management Studio 2012+, JavaScript, CSS, HTML.
OR
Education - Applicant must have successfully completed studies in graduate education in a related field of study from an accredited college or university to substitute for specialized experience at the rate of 15 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) of graduate education for 6 months of specialized experience (up to a maximum of 54 semester hours of graduate education for 1 years of specialized experience). Note: directly related graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Must provide transcripts.
Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Volunteer or unpaid experience: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
