About the Position: All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community. (5 CFR 575.203)

Duties

Evaluate the Educator Qualification, Certification, and Recertification Program to determine the degree to which program goals and objectives are achieved. Screen all employee documentation to assure that all documents are completed as required and that minimum certification/licensure qualifications are met. Serve as technical expert and in-house consultant to management on issues related to certification, qualifications, and training and development of educator personnel. Interpret and analyze specialized statutory and regulatory requirements and precedents in the operation of the Educator Qualification, Certification, and Recertification Program. Develop program materials and provides training to DoDEA staff and school administrators on matters related to qualification determinations and certification/recertification requirements. Team Leader-leads employees in the performance of work objectives set by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

Current Competitive Service Civilian DoDEA Employee within the Commuting Area In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating educator qualification, certification, and recertification programs, screening employee documentation to ensure minimum certification/licensure qualifications/requirements are met, interpreting statutory and regulatory requirements for educators, and leading teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education / Training Program AdministrationEducational Service ProgramsLeadershipRequirements Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
