Qualified NCUA staff are being presented the opportunity to serve as an executive on a detail or temporary promotion as the Associate Executive Director in the Office of the Executive Director (OED). This is a temporary promotion or detail not to exceed 180 days with the option to extend up to an additional 180 days.

Duties

This is a temporary promotion or detail not to exceed 180 days with the option to extend up to an additional 180 days. This position is located in the Office of the Executive Director (OED), National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The Associate Executive Director is responsible for serving as a principal advisor to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director and exercises influence in the review, interpretation, and communication of agency-wide policies and programs. As the Associate Executive Director, your responsibilities will include: Serving as a principal advisor to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director and providing executive leadership over special projects, administrative matters, programs, and certain strategic oversight duties that concern the OED. Providing executive oversight and program direction over complex high-priority, sensitive special projects and assignments with national and mission-critical program implications to reflect agency mission, focus, and strategic goals. Coordinating with executive leadership, agency staff, state supervisory authorities, credit unions, and other agencies on critical initiatives. Maintaining oversight of special projects and working groups and providing status updates to leadership on a regular basis. Managing the special analysis of agency issues related to policies, practices, and resources required to carry out programs to include theories, practices, and procedures governing NCUA. Supervising the activities of subordinate staff, including planning, setting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. The duty station for this opportunity is Alexandria, VA. If you are selected, your current duty station will not change. Travel expenses will be authorized in accordance with agency policy.

Qualifications

For the SS-01 grade level, you must have one year (12 months) of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the CU-15 grade level in the public or private sector. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as experience serving as a supervisor of assigned staff and having responsibility for overseeing programs, projects, or initiatives, formulating organizational policies, and developing plans for achieving goals and objectives. You must provide specific details in your resume as to how your work experience meets the specialized experience for this position. Technical/Professional Core Qualification (TCQ): Knowledge of financial institutions, government agencies, or the environment in which they function to provide executive leadership and strategic consultation on administrative and operational responsibilities.
