Duties

THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE/ POSITION Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-11, is to provide information technology system support to the assigned unit. The incumbent provides systems administration support on classified workstations and servers using multiple operating systems. The incumbent is responsible for installing and testing the classified system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining workstation and server hardware and software. The incumbent is the primary customer support specialist for the classified systems used throughout the unit.

IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), GS-2210-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques; Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; Experience serving as a technical expert and focal point for the installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and associated assigned systems. Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Undergraduate or Graduate Education with a major study in: computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
