This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain personnel of the DoD workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Analyzes operating systems and applications to include Windows Server 2012, LINUX, and VMware.
Analyzes failures to isolate the source of the problem(s) and determines if the failure is caused by integrated hardware, software, and or application programs to include source code.
Troubleshoots problem(s) to determine mission impact and makes recommended corrective actions.
Incumbent develops and executes recovery plans to fully restore operations.
Provides system administration support for in-house Enterprise Management and software delivery system used by the MTC to provide support in monitoring and managing servers and user PC's.
Provides information and guidance to IT personnel on the capabilities and utilization of all operating systems and applications.
Analyzes requests for modifications to existing systems and programs.
Serves as a team member in the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of business/information type computer systems, and programs in support of the MTC’s information processing requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to be on call back.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:
1) Create and provide technical documentation for Information System, Servers and all associated applications.
2) Initiate the installation, configuration, and maintain Operating systems and applications such as Windows Server, LINUX, and VMware.
3) Manage network infrastructure tools and applications, administers servers and databases that reside on a LAN and WAN.
4) Ensure compliance with pertinent legal, regulatory directives, RMF requirements, NIST Security Controls and Best Business Practice such as Security Technical Implementation Guides.

(1) Attention to Detail-Carry out difficult and complex assignments.
(2) Customer Service-Providing consultation and instruction to functional area users.
(3) Oral Communication-Provide consultation and instruction to functional area users.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Certifications: In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must possess and continue to maintain a valid IAT Level II Certification.
