Duties
You will develop a variety of safety and occupational health program plans and instructions aimed at ensuring a safe and healthful workplace throughout SWFLANT.
You will conduct investigations and inspections of work operations/facilities to ensure implementation of and adherence to specified hazard control approaches and measures.
You will conduct annual audits and self assessments of assigned programs.
You will conduct mishap investigations involving injury to personnel or damage to government property and prepares and submits formal reports through chain of
command.
You will serve as the Assistant Nuclear Weapons Radiological Controls Officer and/or Weapons Radiological Controls Technician in accordance with SSP OD 69206.
You will serve as Pier Safety Loading Officer during Strategic Weapon and Conventional Ordnance handling evolutions at the Explosives Handling Wharves.
You will conduct numerous surveys of new and changing work operations and studies of work processes to identify hazards and assess risks.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
- This is a Nuclear Deterrent Mission position.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least three years of general experience that include one year of experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience must be in scientific or technical work that provided an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the safety and occupational health field. Creditable general experience must demonstrate the achievement of knowledge equivalent to a degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health Physicist (CHP), or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination meets the requirements for GS-5.

Education
In lieu of general experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- a successful completion of a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. -OR-
- a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
