You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH DIVISION of SWFLANT KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will responsible for planning, monitoring, advisory, training, and reporting duties in support of Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT) program development and implementation. You will coordinate and direct the Command's efforts in the reduction of command civil service, military and contractor aggregate exposure (man-rem) to ionizing radiation to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Policy. You will establish objectives to ensure compliance with authority directives associated with nuclear weapons radiological controls resources and evaluate implications to program objectives resulting from production scheduling and process changes. You will conduct annual evaluations of the Radiation Health Program for the Officer in Charge, Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) and prepare official Evaluation Reports to identify deficiencies and program weaknesses and recommends corrective action. You will manage Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT) personnel dosimetry program to ensure exposure limits do not exceed Navy's established radiation control level. You will develop procedures to measure, control, and prevent the spread of radioactive contamination to personnel and the environment. You will conducts investigations and inspections of work operations to ensure implementation of and adherence to the command's As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Policy. You will serve as Pier Safety Loading Officer during Strategic Weapon and Conventional Ordnance handling evolutions at the Explosives Handling Wharves. You will maintain and distribute TLDs to all personnel associated with the radiological controls program.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 pay band or GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Evaluating safety controls (e.g., working conditions, operating processes, or hazardous conditions) to recommend improvements in procedures for a safety and occupational health program.
