You will serve as a CASUALTY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST in the Total Force Manpower Management Division of HDQTRS NDW. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number:ST-12638548-25-AMW. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.

Duties

You will collect, assemble, and analyze case file information and present findings and recommendations to the Program Manager. You will be the liaison with the next of kin and/ or beneficiaries for survivor benefits on entitlements and allowances and clearly interpret and explain all benefits entitled to them up being eligible. You will conduct formal training and command briefs, related to casualty assistance and survivor benefit entitlements. You will support the casualty assistance program and provide costumer services to a variety of customers.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Performing complex and sensitive duties pertaining to administration, management, and analysis duties. 2. Communicating effectively on a professional level, both orally and in writing, with Officers of all ranks, enlisted personnel, civilian managers, employees, business personnel and private citizens. 3. Gathering, assembling, and analyzing information and presenting findings and recommendations. 4. Following procedures regarding Casualty Programs and information necessary from Veterans Administration and Social Security Administration to provide next of kin proper assistance. 5. Providing timely and accurate information in day-to-day operations of casualty cases and processing of funeral honors request. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
