About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is a diverse city nestled between Seattle and the state capital of Olympia. Tacoma is located on the shores of Commencement Bay, within pristine eyesight of Mount Rainier. The work involves performing various civilian pay duties or assignments that use different or unrelated processes, procedures.

Duties
As a Civilian Pay Technician, handling a variety of civilian payroll transactions, including novel and unique payroll situations.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of regular payroll cycles.
Verify entries in automated timekeeping systems for consistency and compliance with regulations.
Accurately code different types of leave, including annual leave, sick leave, family medical leave.
Ensure premium pay entitlements such as overtime, night differentials, and hazard pay are correctly coded.
Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding payroll and leave issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment (NACI) (TIER-1).
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051.
- Subject to Overtime work.
- Require possessing and maintaining a valid US State issued driver’s license to carry out position related duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing clerical and technical work in support budget, accounting, auditing, payroll, fiscal, and/or financial management functions which includes processing payroll leave and or timekeeping; providing data, reports, guidance, and resolution pay and leave inquiries issues; using Automated Systems to input, track, and verify entries of ( time, leave and pay). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as such as accounting, business, or a related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS06).
