About the Position: Serves as an Ordnance School Training Department Director, with executive level responsibility and authority to conduct liaison with CASCOM, CAC, CALL, TRADOC, TACOM, PEOSTRI, DA, DOD and civilian agencies on all matters pertaining to analyzing, designing, implementing and evaluating Ordnance related training programs, training initiatives, and emerging and displaced systems. Has supervisory responsibility for all Department elements, instructional and support.

Duties

Utilize principles and theories of adult learning, instructional design, or technology- based delivery systems to facilitate training initiatives. Exercise position management responsibilities to ensure proper staffing of the organization and assignment of duties. Brief visiting dignitaries, key command, or staff personnel to advise them on training support functions and programs. Interpret regulations, procedures, methods, or techniques to evaluate a training program. Provide direction to the development of new concepts, ideas, and methods for improved training products.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Administration or Maintenance field. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Administration or Maintenance, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with a broad scope in training programs which impacts the mission of the military with related units and activities worldwide during both peacetime and/or wartime along with coordinating the work of military and civilian professionals, which includes technical and administrative/clerical positions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education / Training Program AdministrationManaging Human ResourcesOral CommunicationTraining and Education Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
