The Fiscal Section is dedicated to providing sound financial management, accounting, and customer service to the US Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida. Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for the formulation, presentation, and execution of all phases of the District's, short and long-range budget. Typical work assignments will include: Oversee and participate in all aspects of budget development and maintaining an integrated financial planning, and reporting system. Advises higher level management team on programmatic effectiveness relative to planned financial objectives. Provide effective recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations, and program accomplishments. Assure accurate recording of day-to-day transactions and ledger maintenance. Develop internal systems for financial ·analysis. Conduct audits of financial/accounting systems to assure that internal controls are in place and that there is no fraud, waste, abuse or mismanagement. Keep high level management informed of any deficiencies that may have occurred. Monitors spending trends and makes projections to assure that expenditures do not exceed available funds. Supervises a team of employees across various positions and grade levels and plans the work to be accomplished by subordinates.

Qualifications

GS-13: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have one-year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (ie. GS-12). Specialized experience is defined as budget and/or financial management work which demonstrates an extensive knowledge of budget and finance policies, principles, and practices sufficient to manage the budget process. Examples of specialized experience include formulating and executing the budget; overseeing financial management operations; conducting audits, tracking funds, and developing statistical reports; supervising, leading, and training people. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).All applicants will be reviewed to ensure they meet minimum qualification and eligibility requirements before carrying out the rating and ranking process.
