About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Budget Analyst within the J8 Resource & Assessment Directorate (RA) in US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) with responsibility to assist in the planning, coordination, and supervision of all matters pertaining to budget activities.
Duties
Develop procedures with functional program managers to ensure budget functions are responsive and effective.
Provide advice and guidance regarding budget execution to include developing policies, plan, concepts, and overall management inherent in all short and long-range actions.
Provide financial advice and recommendations during Crisis Action Team (CAT) and Joint Planning Group (JPG) meetings as FM exercise and contingency representative.
Monitor work to be accomplished by subordinates by determining priorities, and evaluating performance.
Advise, counsel or provide instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires incumbent to attain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires a supervisory probation period unless previously completed.
- This position requires travel away from the duty station up to 10% of the time.
- This position requires Financial Management (Level 2) certification.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, directing and executing Financial Programs, review and evaluate program and budget guidance from Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Joint Staff, DOD, and the Services. Execute, analyze, present and provide justification for budget requirements. Determine and develop or revise long-range policy, guidance and plans for requirements management functions. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work. Assign work, based on priorities; evaluate completed work. Interpret policy and regulatory requirements, assess the effectiveness of actions and recommendations in meeting long-term administrative, program, and, budgetary schedules and deadlines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
