This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Privacy Officer (PRIV).
The primary purpose of this position is to take actions as required to evaluate and enhance effectiveness of the Directorate, its programs and otherwise accomplishing a variety of critical assisgnments on behalf of the Chief Privacy Officer and the Chief of Staff.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Deputy Chief of Staff, GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
Directs and oversees a wide range of administrative and operational functions that impact department mission and objectives.
Ensures the efficient and effective accomplishment of office mission and goals, and provides, secures and negotiates resources and services needed.
Advises on the formulation of strategic plans and policies for the Privacy Office.
Serves as an advisor on major issues and problems affecting policies, long and short-term plans and programs and homeland security initiatives.
Recommends enhancements to department policies and procedures and improves programs and priorities both within and outside the organization.
Evaluates and enhances the effectiveness of the Directorate and its programs.
In coordination with the Chief of Staff, oversees, prioritizes, schedules, assigns, and monitors work to be accomplished by employees.
Requirements

Qualifications
GS-15: To qualify, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
For this position, specialized experience is defined as evaluating and enhancing effectiveness of the Directorate, its programs and otherwise accomplishing a variety of critical assignments on behalf of the Chief PRIV Officer and Chief of Staff. Such experience may include:
Planning and allocating resources and developing long-range and short-term objectives in support of senior leadership and organization goals;
Developing, evaluating and analyzing project proposals and strategic plans and initiatives;
Evaluating and enhancing department policies and procedures to improve programs and priorities;
Coordinating administrative and management support program activities with executives at the highest program levels, in both the public and private sectors.

Time-in-grade
Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service.
