About the Position: Serves as an Editor which supports large-scale test plans and test reports (Limited User Tests, System Evaluations, System Assessments, etc.), to include joint-Service test plans and test reports, for the U.S. Army Medical Test & Evaluation Activity (MTEAC), U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Performs editorial function, formatting and grammar for test plans, test reports, correspondence, briefings, officer and enlisted evaluations, civilian appraisals, and military and civilian awards keeping up with applicable guidance from regulations. Reviews and edits test plans, reports, and other administrative documents in a timely manner. Prepares content revision recommendations to improve clarity, conformance, and accuracy. Performs administrative tasks to include filing reports and maintaining records. Maintains reference files and literature required to perform work assignments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes editing test plans and reports for a Department of Defense Agency such as Army; reviewing test plans and documents for proper grammar and format following department guidelines; providing editorial guidance to aid authors; researching sources of information for accuracy; utilizing automated systems such as Word. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: English, Communications, or Journalism. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
