Performs a variety of duties involved in the installation, modification, and repair of utilities, buildings, structures, and industrial equipment, from receipt of work order through the final operational check out or inspection.
Duties
Major Duties include:
Passing on to other workers the instructions received from supervisors and getting work started, e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
Performs installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, and outlet boxes.
Inspects, maintains, cleans, repairs, tests, and adjusts a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances.
Installs, recognizes causes of faulty equipment, and makes uncomplicated repairs on a variety of small domestic and commercial heating, furnaces, refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems.
Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specification.
Constructs, alters, repairs, or modifies items and structures such as frame work, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior and exterior trim, forms, and siding.
Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and repair work.
Performs digging tasks for uncovering lines and selects proper tools for repairs of such.
Performs welding duties using electric and wire feed, acetylene and/or inert gas shielded welding processes to weld various types of metal.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination. Work involves climbing ladders, poles, towers, or structures. Good hand and eye coordination are required. Repairs are made on equipment which may require maneuvering and may require lifting of items up to 50 pounds; occasionally handles heavier items. Frequent bending, stooping, and stretching is required as well as working in hard-to-reach places and in awkward positions.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Incumbent is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, oils, and noisy conditions. Incumbent is subject to possible injury from vehicular accidents or hand and power tools used. Incumbent is subject to falls from heights, cuts, bruises, inset bites, and stings, scrapes, burns, infections, and broken bones. Incumbent is subject to strains and injuries from lifting. Subject to serious injury or death from electrical shock and electrocution. Incumbent is subject to emergency call back duty. Uses safety equipment as required.
