This position serves as the Supervisor of the Operations Section under the general supervision of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisory Engineer.
Duties
Major Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides a phased approach for in house maintenance and repair projects from inception to completion.
Coordination across multi-disciplinary stakeholders with focus on infection control and safety standards.
Accountability for the efficient and effective operation and management of maintenance and repair program for high-pressure steam boilers and their supporting equipment.
Strategic sourcing of equipment and stock supply to standardize and ensure critical components have redundancies.
Year-round grounds maintenance and oversight of work crew for planned outages, and scheduled work after hours.
Collaborating with other trades supervisors to transition prioritized work and delegation of such work to subordinates for after-hours repair.
Dealing with employees and union representatives regarding suggestions, grievances, and disciplinary action.
Operates on own initiative within the policies and procedures of the organization.
Responsible for compiling acquisition packages.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Physical exertion is considerable and includes prolonged standing, climbing up and down ladders and scaffolding, working in cramped and awkward positions, reaching, lifting, and bending when using hand and power tools and making necessary repairs. Weight lifted may exceed 45 pounds but not to exceed 50 pounds per OSHA. Assistance is usually available for handling heavier materials and equipment (in excess of 50 pounds). Heavy exertion is required at frequent intervals. Must have physical capacities for working outside in excessive heat, excessive noise, confined areas, inclement weather and on slippery or uneven surfaces that can be found at or in transit to and from worksites. Rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously required to troubleshoot problems. Hearing (with aid if necessary), depth perception, and visual required to access equipment condition. Work around moving objects and machinery and working with others required. May be required to carry a heavy tool kit and, because the equipment is found in so many places, extensive walking is required. This individual may have to lift, carry and/or move heavy equipment, machinery and/or parts. Required to work on scaffolds and ladders from time to time.
Working Conditions: Occasionally this individual must work in extremely hot or cold areas depending on the equipment and its location or environmental conditions. This environment can include excessive noise, dust, fumes, solvents, grease/oils, electrical energy, slippery or uneven surfaces, work on or around machinery, work on ladders or scaffolding, vibration and moisture.
