About the Position: Provide a wide range of administrative and management assistance required to operate a designated functional area(s) for the organization.
Management may select at either the GS-05 or GS-6 grade level. Full performance is at the GS-06 grade.
Duties
Utilize a variety of automation software to facilitate various activities to support administrative and senior staff.
Assist with planning, coordinating, maintaining calendars, and prepare meeting agenda such as unfinished business from previous meetings, current issues and notification of members.
Coordinate, prepare and track personnel related actions for civilian employees to include annual performance appraisals, work/leave schedules, incentive awards, and training.
Recognize potential discrepancies in timekeeping and take appropriate action(s) to correct.
Prepare purchase documents for a variety of goods, supplies, and services.
Process travel documents and make travel arrangements for staff.
Receive visitors and callers to the organization involving inquiries concerning a variety of substantive administrative and/or technical issues.

- This is an Office Automation (OA) position. Incumbent must self-certify as a qualified typist (40 wpm) for this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing various computer systems to access, input, track and maintain information; preparing various forms, correspondence, memorandums and reports following guides and regulations which prescribe the proper format for correct preparation; maintaining a record keeping system, performing mail distribution, and coordinating copier services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must submit copies of all relevant transcripts with your application.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must submit copies of all relevant transcripts with your application.)
Specialized Experience for GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes performing procedural and administrative work in an office environment; preparing correspondence; maintaining files/records; making travel arrangements; maintaining inventory records for hand receipt accounts on property; making credit card purchases; gathering narrative and statistical budgetary data; prepare and monitor labor and fund requests; serve as timekeeper and complete weekly labor reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS 6 you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
