This position is located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, in the Facility Management Division.
Duties
The incumbent supervises all routine custodial and grounds maintenance activities in Wahweap and Lees Ferry districts.
Different occupations supervised include grounds work, janitorial, maintenance related to campgrounds, picnic areas, and fish cleaning stations.
Documents performance, recommends employees for awards, and takes appropriate disciplinary actions.
Outlines personnel and supply needs, develops annual work plans, outlines and justifies work schedules and writes completion reports.
Trains in the following trade practices: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.
Operates a small watercraft less than 26 feet in length.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability To Lead Or Supervise (Screen-Out)
Work experience as a facility maintenance supervisor or lead over custodial, laborer and grounds keeping crews; recommended selection of employees, organized assignments, and evaluated work performance of subordinates; overseen contracts and estimated material and manpower needed for specific jobs; trained subordinates in new duties and explained manuals and work procedures in at least TWO of the following trade practices: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, and painting; motivated employees to work efficiently, safely and productively.
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Use of Measuring Instructions
